Hair Metal Mansion

In the 80's, there was no place bigger for rock than L.A., and no one rocked harder than Bitch. They were one of the first bands to be signed to the Metal Blade label, and in 1982 the future never looked brighter for them. They went on to release albums like; "Be My Slave" in 1983, and "The Bitch Is Back" in '87.
And now, Bitch is back and better than ever!
The current lineup looks like this;
Jay Dean & Steve Kara on guitars, Steve Gaines on bass, Bitch's original drummer, Robby Settles, and on vocals, none other than Betsy Bitch.
Recently, I had the privilege of interviewing Miss Betsy Bitch herself, for my website, Hair Metal Mansion.

The interview went as follows:

aXe: What ignited your love for rock/metal?
B.B.: I can say, without hesitation, Alice Cooper was my inspiration for getting into music and facilitating me wanting to front a rock and roll band, and becoming the character "Betsy Bitch". Always loved the man, always will. (I have his face tattooed on my left bicep).

aXe: How did you feel when Bitch became one of the first bands signed to Metal Blade records?
B.B.: Really excited. When we were in L.A. playing locally, we could only reach a limited number of people. But when Metal Blade offered to record us, that set us up for both national and international notariety.

aXe: What was it like being apart of the L.A. Sunset Strip rock scene?
B.B.: It was one of the best eras of my life. You could go to a club, or the Sunset Strip on any given night of the week, and it was a full-on scene. Nothing will ever beat the L.A. '80's music scene. I have very fond memories of it.

aXe: If you could, tell me a wild or crazy story that happened during that time.
B.B.: Several scenarios come to mind...Like Metallica and Slayer opening up for us...Playing a gig with the actors of the movie "This Is Spinal Tap", who are reunited to play a benefit...Playing with W.A.S.P. dozens of times at the Troubadour and always fearing that their flaming logo would set the club on fire...Playing a club that also doubled as a bait & tackle shop and having to share our dressing room with live minnows...The list goes on and on.

aXe: It's been a long time since Bitch has put out new music. How did the reunion come about, and tell me about the new EP that is coming out.
B.B.: My original drummer, Robby Settles, and myself decided to put this new line-up together after realizing that our fans hadn't forgotten about us and wanted to hear from us. I guess what spurred that on was our gig in Germany. The promoters of the "Bang Your Head Festival" flew us out there - All expenses paid and we played to a crowd of about 15,000 adoring fans, along with such notables as Twisted Sister, Dio, Dokken, Y&T, Thin Lizzy, U.D.O., etc. We decided shortly after that to re-form with two guitar players and a new bass player. We've played some local gigs to favorable response, and have now decided to embark on recording an EP of all new, solid, kick-ass material. The songs are sounding really good. We hope for an early '08 release date and a possible tour to support the release.

aXe: And if you could, give a shout-out to all the members of the "Hair Metal Mansion"!
B.B.: Hey H.M.M. (Love that name). Lust and bruises to you all! And keep livin' for that whip!

It was an absolute honor to do that interview with her. I wish Bitch all the best in everything they do.
