Hair Metal Mansion @ The First Ever VEGAS ROCKS! Hair Metal Awards

Hair Metal Mansion correspondent JOE SCHAEFFER checks in with the following:

Hair Metal Mansion was on hand for the First Ever VEGAS ROCKS! Hair Metal Awards. It took place at the Eastside Cannery Casino in Las Vegas, NV on May 15th, 2016. It was a terrific event to celebrate some of Hair Metal’s finest performers. 


              The award recipients included Twisted Sister (Lifetime Achievement), Scorpions (Classic Rock Lifetime Achievement), Angel (Glam Rock Legend), Doro Pesch (Metal Goddess Legend), Stephen Pearcy (Hair Metal Hero), Winger (Hair Metal Heroes), Quiet Riot’s Frankie Banali (Pioneers of Metal), Rudy Sarzo (Bass Rock Legend), Brian Tichy (Outstanding Drum Performance), Marq Torien (Outstanding Performer) and Pretty Boy Floyd (Sunset Strip Glam Kings).



            The event also marked the first time Angel has appeared together in public for over 35 years. Eddie Trunk was on hand for the introduction, where they received the ‘Glam Rock Legend’ award.

           Sally Steele and Nick Hawk hosted the awards show which featured performances from Pretty Boy Floyd, BulletBoys, Stephen Pearcy and Twisted Sister.

            There was a salute to Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead as well. ‘Ace of Spades’ was performed by a group that included Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee, Alex Skolnick and Chuck Billy (Testament) and Rudy Sarzo on bass. Doro Pesch performed the Dio classic ‘Rainbow in the Dark’ with a band that included Robert Sarzo (Hurricane), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot) and Brian Tichy (The Dead Daisies).

Twisted Sister performed ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ and ‘I Wanna Rock’ with help from Quiet Riot’s own Frankie Banali filling the drum seat for the band.

           The night concluded with an All Star Jam of Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Crazy Train’. Performers included on  vocals, Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Doro (Warlock), Stephen Pearcy (Ratt), Kip Winger (Winger) and Chuck Billy (Testament). Trading guitar licks were Alex Skolnick, Robert Sarzo and Reb Beach (Winger).


           The night ended with and invitation only party on the 16th Floor with a stunning view of the whole city of Las Vegas. It was a fitting end to a fabulous night.
